Listing here some ingredients that could go a long way in giving your tresses that elusive shine.


Natural Oils 

Trying to avoid chemicals or looking for alternate experiments? Try using natural oils like olive oil, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, castor oil, etc.

These are one of the most precious beauty products you would find in your home. They are a powerful emollient that gives shine and strength to your hair and help in keeping them soft.

They also protect the hair from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays. 

Olive oil - This oil has protective qualities. It protects against heat damage and imparts shine to your hairs, moisturizes and gives broken hair a healthy appearance.

Coconut oil - It allows to penetrate the hair deeply without evaporating and is rich in nutrients that repair brittle hairs and split ends. Recommended especially for dry hair and people with slow hair growth.

Sweet almond oil- This oil has various properties and nutrients that moisturizes, protects and seals hair from breakage. Use it regularly to get long and strong hairs.

Lemon

Every mom must have applied lemon juice or have convinced you to use it on your hair at some point or the other in life. It is a storehouse of Vitamin C which is a great ingredient for maintaining healthy hair.

DIY Tip : Mix 5-6 tablespoons of heated coconut oil with lemon juice and one tablespoon of honey. Apply the mixture to your hair and scalp. Rinse off with shampoo after an hour.

Honey is a great antioxidant and can play a vital role in preventing hair damage. Our hair undergoes a lot of stress each day due to the increasing pollution levels, exposure to UV rays from the sun and use of a lot of other beauty products containing chemicals.

Honey helps in reversing such damage and restores health in your hair. It also has moisturizing properties that keep your hair hydrated. 

DIY Tip :  Honey and yogurt hair mask. Mix one cup of yogurt with half a cup of honey to get a smooth consistency. Start applying the pack from the roots to the tips of your hair. Leave it for 15 minutes and rinse off with shampoo to fight hair fall, frizz and dandruff.

Aloe Vera 

Aloe Vera is well known for its antifungal and antibacterial properties. It promotes hair growth and gives strength to brittle hair that is prone to breakage.

It helps in reducing fungus growth on the scalp which in turn reduces dandruff problems. It also reduces oil around the hair follicles which helps in removing greasiness from the hair and prevents scalp infections.

Studies have shown that it also contains collagen that helps repair hair damage. 

DIY Tip : Mix 3 tablespoon of aloe vera gel with one tablespoon of castor oil. Add a few drops of essential oil, mix well. Let this mask stay on your hair strands for 20 before washing it with your shampoo.

Indian Gooseberry

No discussion on ingredients for healthy hair would be complete without a mention of Indian Gooseberry or Amla in it.

It is has been used externally as well as consumed for decades for its great Vitamin C content and other skin and hair improving qualities.

It not only promotes hair growth but also minimizes grays, gives volume to the hair, reduces dandruff, conditions the scalp and helps in getting rid of head lice.

DIY Tip : Mix 3-4 tablespoon of amla powder with enough olive oil. Apply this paste to your hair for 30 minutes before rinsing off with your shampoo.
