2. Sprouts Chaat

To prepare sprouts chaat, first rinse and drain your choice of sprouts (such as moong beans or mixed lentils).

• Then, in a mixing bowl, combine the sprouts with finely chopped onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, and green chillies. You can also add some grated carrots for extra crunch and nutrition.

• After doing so, squeeze in the juice of fresh lemon, sprinkle some chaat masala, and garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.

3. Masala Roasted Makhana

Begin by heating a non-stick pan and adding a teaspoon of oil.

• Once the oil is heated, add the makhana and roast them on low to medium heat until they become crisp and golden brown.

• Stir occasionally to ensure even roasting and prevent burning.

• Once roasted, transfer the makhana to a mixing bowl and sprinkle some salt, black pepper, and chaat masala over them.

• Toss gently to coat the makhana evenly with the spices. 

4. Baked Samosas

Who said you can’t eat samosa while being on a weight management journey? Of course not the fried one. However, you can enjoy a healthier version of samosas by baking them instead. Baked samosas are a healthier alternative to deep-fried ones, as they contain less oil and are lower in fat, while still retaining their delightful taste and texture.

Prepare the filling first. Boil and mash some potatoes and mix them with cooked peas and spices such as cumin, coriander, garam masala, and red chilli powder.

• For the outer covering, you can use whole wheat sheets or make a dough using whole wheat flour, water, and a pinch of salt.

• Roll out the dough into thin circles, fill them with the potato-pea mixture, and seal the edges to form a triangle-shaped samosa.

• Brush the samosas lightly with oil and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

• Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 20-25 minutes or until the samosas turn golden brown and crispy.
